This demonstration version for the "digital dynamic textedition", short DTE-program, is available for two operating systems, for Linux and for Windows 95/NT. a.Windows 95 /NT: ----------------- Using the Windows operating system it is necessary to install a so called X-Server in addition to the DTE-program. This allows to use programs that are originally developed for UNIX systems to run under Windows. The installation progress consists of two parts: 1.Install the X-Server Download the file "xwin-32.exe", run it and follow the on-screen instructions. N.B.: This X-Server is a commercial product. Here you will find an evaluation version that works only for two hours. After that time you have to restart X-Server and DTE-program. Please contact starnet communications for getting the full version (http://www.starnet.com) 2. Install the DTE-program Download the file "setup.exe" and run it. This should extract all necessary files to the directory "dte-demo" on drive C. Now start the X-Server via the taskbar "My Computer\Programs\X-Win32\X-Win32". Then open the directory "dte-demo" and run the file "run.bat". That's all! N.B. Using Windows95 it is necessary to have any kind of net-access configured (e.g. modem). Please refer to the file "windows95.txt" if you have any problems. b.Linux ------- 1. Create a directory and change to it, e.g mkdir DTE; cd DTE 2. Download the file dte-demo.tar.gz and copy it to that directory 3. Unpack it: tar xzvf dte-demo.tar.gz 4. Remove the archive-file: rm dte-demo.tar.gz 5. Run the program: ./dte-demo Last update: 2.12.1998, Malte Rehbein
