    I forgot to mention another possibility.
    If you will explore the DOSTOOLS.zip archive, you will find a little
    nice program: tty.exe.

    This is a very old turbo-pascal program, able to open a serial
    connection. But I do not remember if you can do also file-transfer with
    it.
