Speculation:
Would it be hard to write a new email-like protocol using scripts? Something
that made fake headers virtually impossible. Then we could run this mailing
list on it as an experiment.
Back in the BBS days (BBS=Bulletin Board Systems) every board seemed to have
it's own special incompatible version of local BBS mail. Some of these mail
variants were promising, and of course there was no such thing as spam. (Most
sysops were notorious censors.) What with how bad email has turned out, there
needs to be more experimenting, until mail becomes better.
