Thanks for the tip.
Finally got it to un-tar with the following:
cat WKS.tgz | bzip2 -ds | tar -x (tar complained about -xvf, -xf )
which unpacked to ../usr/wks/etcetera... Found "it.db" & => "es.db"
Editing in WordPad saving as Unicode text seems to preserve the field codes.
Any suggestions for a mulinux compatible format?
